Finishing up Shore Excursion booking for an upcoming cruise.

Later this year, RQS and I will be cruising the British Isles.  RQS booked most of the shore excursions for our cruise.  Today, I booked the last one - a Beatles walking tour of Liverpool.  Although much has changed in the 66+ years since they started performing in their respective bands, historical information is easily seen in the streets upon today's visitors walk  (Yes, I'm including the time they performed as rank amateurs.)

Neither of us wanted to go out for Easter Sunday.  The weather was dreary and it was both cold and clammy.  Since I didn't sleep much the night before, I knew RQS wouldn't mind getting up late and having a restful sleep.  So I moved into the living room at 8:30 and started watching TV until RQS arose from her slumber.

This was a perfect day to stay inside and rest, and that's what we did.  Yes, we became couch potatoes for most of the day.  But what was there to do at 2 pm on a Sunday?  But this wasn't a loss.  Having a day where we could stay inside was just what we needed to recharge our batteries.  By the time we finished dinner, I was ready to book our last shore excursion, and firm up our expense balance before our next cruise.  (I owe RQS some cash.)

As you can see, this was a Jammie day for the two of us.  Tomorrow, I'll have things on my docket which must be taken care of this week.  One of these things will be getting a check to reimburse the co-op president for some expenses she incurred.  Since I'm the only other person who has signing powers for the co-op, I have to go to the bank as Mario to get a teller's check for her.  (That's about all I'll say of the details of my co-op's business, save that we're seeing a light at the end of the tunnel for problems that started 2 years ago.)

Day 06 - Halifax, At Last!

To me, the only Canadian port on the Atlantic (for most cruises) that I think is a must visit is Halifax. Not only is it a reasonably sized city, but it is close to Peggy's Cove - site of one of the most photographed light houses in North America.

Halifax, at last! Finally, a port that I expected to be a highlight of our trip. The ship took its leisurely time getting into port, and we docked at the expected time. After a while, both of us got moving, getting showered, dressed, fed, and ready for the bus to Peggy's Cove.

Today would be the day that RQS would finally get to take some picturesque photos, as Peggy’s Cove is the one place worth using up the remaining charge in the camera.. As for me, I’d be happy to get a couple of good photos on my cell phone, as I’ve gotten good shots in Peggy’s Cove on my prior visits. (And I did get those good shots.) It was hard to get RQS to stop taking photos long enough to get to even more picturesque locations, but it was worth the effort. She loved the place, and wished that our tour could have spent more time in town.

Next, we were off to the cemetery where over 100 victims of the Titanic disaster were buried. It was a fittingly somber end to a nice shore excursion on a day that started out gloomy. Why do I say fitting? We found out that the survivors of the Titanic were taken to New York where their survival could be "celebrated". But the dead were taken to Halifax, where the work of the registrar of deaths could take place unimpeded by the press.

After dinner, we went to see a Beatles tribute band on the ship’s main stage. Although they were decent performers, they left me wanting something better. I'll always wish I could have been in Vegas when Cheap Trick performed the whole of the Sgt. Pepper album, followed by the Abbey Road side 2 medley to close out their show. For a fleeting moment, Cheap Trick became a better group than the Beatles, as the "Fab Four" never intended to ever have these songs performed in concert.

I'm so tired...

This is another quick post....

- - - - - -

To keep my mind from exploding due to boredom, I've actively used an MP3 player to entertain me while I do an almost mindless task.  Today, one Beatles tune comes to mind: "I'm So Tired."  Although this song was written to "document" a different person's exhaustion, it seems to echo what I've been dealing with as of late.

Today, I started work with a bang.  Yet by the time coffee break came, I had no energy and was ready to fall asleep.  I was glad to have no outside events coming up.  But, I had a Zoom meeting with two of my friends from Texas.  And I wish I could have postponed the zoom for another week - something I'm glad I didn't have to do.

By the time my Zoom meeting ended, I was ready to put my head on a pillow and fall asleep - which I did for an hour.  At least, I woke up in time to say goodnight to RQS and remind her of a lobster truck that will be visiting her neighborhood tomorrow.

Tomorrow, I will have to remove the nail polish from this Sunday's Mani-Pedi.  I'll have another Zoom with my ex-boss, and then have to run to the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions.  AARGH.  Next time, I'll be sure to be able to stay in Marian mode for a full week before I get another manicure....

Yesterday, I supplied the cipher.  Today, I supply the quote.  Can you tell me what this wall says? - - - - - -  Again, we didn't start ...
