Last night, a typo erased a week's worth of work.

As I've mentioned before, I have a travel related blog for which entries are published on a monthly basis.  Due to a typo I made on my Chromebook with a mistaken way of trying to prevent a loss of data, I lost my March 2026 entry.  Luckily, I can reconstruct most of what I've written, but not everything.  So, I'll spend the better part of this week rewriting the entry.

I didn't get any sleep last night, so I made a decision not to start the blog post rewrite until tomorrow.  With this being said, I was able to relax a little, knowing that I didn't have to jump into any hard work until tomorrow.

Every Sunday, I make a decision when at my house - do I go to church or stay in bed.  A warm, comfy bed wins out most weeks.  This week, it was a no brainier - stay home and rest.  I would likely fall asleep during mass anyway.  (And I did fall asleep after RQS cooked breakfast.)

Both of us decided to make it a Jammie day,   We watched YouTube videos, as well as watched movies on the TV.  We now miss our nightly routine of watching the Perry Mason series, as it is no longer available on Amazon for free.  (I guess I'm going to kill my Hulu subscription and take one up with Paramount Plus.)

When I had a moment, I decided to look up the church schedule, and found out why services were being held in one building and not the other this month - the building in which I usually would go to is being used as a homeless shelter in this frigid weather.  Although I don't think they planned for this sub-freezing weather, I'm glad that they had perfect timing for helping the homeless.  Next, I found that ALL the pictures I uploaded to Blogger were intact.  So I don't have to upload them a second time as I rewrite the blog entry.

Tomorrow, RQS goes home and I expect to be busy.  So, I need to recharge.  More later.

We've just booked another cruise! (a short post)

RQS and I have booked another cruise!  Yes, we must be gluttons for punishment, as we will be sailing into the Bermuda Triangle twice in a little over a month. 😀

Being serious, the idea of taking this cruise came about because RQS saw some cheap prices, and wanted to jump on one.  One problem - she might be biting off more than she can chew, and I'll end up helping her out more than I might have planned.  (We already have another Autumn cruise booked and an Alaskan cruise booked for next year.)  I guess that I'll have to be the voice of reason for our choices of vacations in the future.

I like the idea of taking this cruise, as it will allow me to compare apples to apples when evaluating two Bermuda cruises. (I have another blog, SlowTravel101, in which I post entries about cruising and other "slow" methods of getting from place to place while vacationing.)  The comparison between the two cruises should be published sometime in the next two or three months.  If all goes right, I will likely go on the second of these cruises as Marian - the way I prefer to travel.

On other matters, I just got off of a co-op board meeting, and none of us are happy.  Our managing agent's site representative didn't show up again, and we were more than just disappointed by this. We haven't been happy with the quality of services being provided lately, and we needed to discuss this now.  Additionally, there are other issues that may cause us grief, and it looks like we'll soon be going back to twice monthly meetings until we get some of our issues resolved.

Hopefully, my duties to the co-op board won't interfere with the cruises RQS and I will be taking.

California Vacation - Day 04 (Sea Day)

My body is still functioning as if it were still in New York.  I awoke around 6:00 am, and found that I had fallen asleep watching a movie last night.  This was OK to me, as I was tired after roughly 4 miles of walking the day before.

Given that I was hungry when I woke up, I knew I wouldn't be ready in time to make it to the sit-down breakfast venues.  So, I ended up going to the buffet, where the food was good, yet had a mass-produced feel about it.  Hopefully, I'll get up early enough tomorrow to enjoy a breakfast in one of the main dining rooms.

I didn't go straight back to my room after breakfast for some reason.  Instead, I walked the ship a little, looking to see if there was a ship's library. (I didn't find one.)  By the time I was done walking around, it was time for lunch - and I went to one of the sit-down restaurants and got a served meal.  Sadly, I made one mistake:  Instead of ordering the calamari as a small appetizer, I should have ordered a lunch sized portion.  It was that good.  While there, I met another couple, and we chatted about cruising for a while.  I handed the woman information about the Hawaii cruise I took, as well as giving her the info on the travel blog in which I make monthly posts.

Once done with lunch, I went back to the room to freshen up and do some reading.  Soon enough, 4:30 came around, and I prepared to look my prettiest for a formal night.  I was very glad that I had all the accouterments with me to present myself as an elegant, but heavy set lady in her 60's.  Realizing that my second specialty dinner reservation wasn't on the computer, I went down and got a reservation for 1 for 8:00 pm.  And I'm glad I did, as the food was yummy.  First was the Mussels Provinciale.  Then came the "Three S's" - Scotch Salmon, Sea Scallops, and Shrimp.  Although I was not too happy with dessert, it was not because it wasn't' good.  Instead, I was simply not in the mood for this flavor combination.  I'd have rather had only the ice cream that came with the dish.

After dinner, I went to a show called "Rock Opera" in the main theater.  Although the singers were fantastic, it was not an opera.  It was opera trained musicians overdoing rock classics such as "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Sounds of Silence".  Too much background dancing, too much amplification, and too much strength in their voices.  There was no subtlety in the performance.  Yet, I found my feet tapping for most of the songs being sung.

When I arrived at my room, I found a bouquet of flowers.  Seems like my choice of the Princess Premier fare for this cruise gave me a willing raffle entry this trip.  This T-Gal certainly enjoys the flowers in the room.....

And now, back to my everyday life

I dropped RQS off at the station today for her trip home.  She'll have 3 days to run her errands (and me the same) before she returns ...
