Was she dead or alive? Inquiring minds wanted to know.

I hadn't seen Pat in months, and I haven't been able to reach her by voice or text.  Given that she's 84 years old, I figured that I should take a drive to her care home to see what was going on....

Today's weather report predicted a strong chance of rain for the evening - but I decided to brave the weather anyway.  So, around 6:30 pm, I decided to get dressed and drive across the river to Pat's care home.  As I crossed the river, the clouds looked ominous, and I knew that heavy rains were going to come.

I arrived at Pat's place around 7:15, and the receptionist said "long time, no see". Then she told me how to use the new system to record visitors to the building.  My face was scanned, and then I proceeded upstairs to see Pat.  Strangely enough, we got into a serious conversation where we didn't disagree much. Then we talked about me being transgender and how she didn't understand why a man would want to be a woman.  I noted that I didn't have severe gender dysphoria, but that I would rather have been born female - with all the problems that women have to deal with throughout their lives.   The conversation then shifted to sex, but not in a graphic way.  Specifically, I wondered why human males evolved to have 25%-33% more average body mass than human females, and how this is reflected in the first position we think of when a man and woman have sex.  I contrasted this with Bonobo ape sexual behavior, wondering if there is any beneficial evolutionary advantage in how humans have sex.

Of course, I can't do our conversation justice.  It was one of those "you had to be there" moments that will be forever lost in time.  But I did look at Pat's phone to see why she says she is having trouble with the phone.  And I found that she didn't have the phone's ringer set loud enough to be heard.  Once I set the ringer to a loud enough volume, I tested it and it worked properly.  Now, Pat should be able to hear the phone ring - until she screws up the volume again....

It's Raining!

Yesterday, the weather forecast said that we would get a heavy rain starting tonight and running into overmorrow (an unfortunately obsolete English word meaning: the day after tomorrow).  Given that the forecast calls for 6 inches of rain falling between now and then, I do not plan to "dress pretty" when I go to work for the next 2 days.

I had some errands I wanted to do after work today, and I was unable to do them, as I wanted to be home before the rains started.  Instead of doing these tasks, I decided to catch up with some people with whom I've been out of contact with for months.

Luckily, I saw that the closet rod in the closet holding my female wardrobe still is in place.  But leaving it in place is only a short term way of dealing with a problem - I need a new rod with a center support, so that I can't overload the rod anymore.  Right now, this is my excuse to fill another "Donation Bag."  and I'm preparing to donate clothes which no longer fit my style and taste.

When I extracted clothes for my first 2 donation bags, I found that I had clothes that I had bought almost a decade ago that I haven't worn in years.  Some of these garments are hard to let go of.  For example, I had 2 Lands End skirts that don't fit my needs anymore.  If I knew I'd be wearing them, I'd keep them in my closet.  But out they go!  The same goes for old shoes and other accessories I don't wear.  Now, I wear clothes which minimize my male pattern body, and emphasize the feminine parts that I should show off.  (Ex-GF-M always said that I have a great pair of legs, so I try to wear clothes which show them off.)

By the time I'm done, I may have 4, 5 or 6 donation bags to go to a good cause.  However, I try not to think of how much money I've spent on women's clothes which do not fit me well enough to keep.  At least, spending this money allowed me to learn what works and what doesn't work on my body.  Cisgender women learn this while they are young Transgender women usually learn this when they are older.  Thankfully, these lessons didn't break the bank....

Monday, Monday - but I'm not complaining.

OK, so it's the start of the week. As usual, I stayed in much of the day, as I really don't like getting out of the bed until the afternoon.

When I looked to start my next letter to my meetup group's pen pal, I found out that I didn't finish last week's letter.  So I figured that I'd close up that letter, and send it out today.  Hopefully, my pen pal will enjoy receiving it.

On other matters, I ended up going out for the day as Marian.  I wasn't that busy.  It was a simple shopping run to the Wegmans in White Plains.  Considering that I needed to get some prepared meals for the week, it was best that I make the drive today, as the weather forecast for tomorrow calls for 2" of snow.

Arriving home, I picked up my mail.  Inside was the last 2 packages from my last order from Amazon - a chin strap for use with my CPAP mask, and a set of scissors for trimming nose hairs.  How interesting.  Yeah, right.  But these items are rarely found at the local drug store, and have to be ordered online.  I only wonder how people lived without being connected to the internet - and that's what we did until 30 years ago.  It's amazing how things have changed in our lifetimes!

Can I say that I did much?  Not really.  But I did get myself dressed up and out the door as Marian.  If I had more places to go, I might have gone to them.  Sadly, the pandemic is getting in the way of life - and will be doing so for the near future.

And now, on to happier things...

As much as I'd like to show my readers a picture of RQS smiling in this blog, I will not do so because of what once happened with some...
